Week鈥檚 events: Legacy Lecture, brain and sound, tribal libraries, jazz

University of 麻花视频 Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here鈥檚 what鈥檚 happening during the week of June 1-7:
- On Monday, June 1, the 2026 Legacy Lecture will honor Leonard Kamerling. Kamerling, UAF professor of English and curator of film emeritus, is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and ethnographer with more than 50 years of experience documenting 麻花视频 Native and world cultures. The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the University of 麻花视频 Museum of the North.
- On Tuesday, June 2, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Lily Hughes, audiologist, discussing 鈥淲hy Hearing Matters: How Sound Shapes the Human Brain.鈥
- On Wednesday, June 3, the Discover 麻花视频 lecture series will feature Tyson Rinio, assistant professor of library science, discussing 鈥淐ultural Relevance in Tribal Libraries.鈥 The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Thursday, June 4, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the Headbolt Heaters at 6 p.m. and the Kit Carson and the 麻花视频 Wompus Cats at 7:30 p.m. at UAF鈥檚 Georgeson Botanical Garden.
All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha鈥 Campus is free after 5 p.m.
