Fairbanks Pollen Count

Updated: Thursday, June 4, 2026

The pollen counts aren't backing down just yet, certified pollen counter Susan Harry says.

"Today's readings show that birch has climbed to its highest level since its major mid-May drop, while spruce continues to hold a heavy presence in the "high" zone. Meanwhile, our insect-pollinated newcomer, chokecherry, is showing a notable surge as more trees burst into full bloom around campus."

Today’s official counts (June 4, 2026):
• Spruce: 232 (High) – Holding strong and heavy.
• Birch: 176 (High) – Continuing its stubborn June "second wind" climb.
• Alder: 71 (Moderate) – Stepping down slightly from yesterday's spike.
• Chokecherry: 11 (Low) – Continuing to show up as campus trees hit peak bloom!
• Poplar: 1 (Low)
• Willow: 2 (Low)
• Sedge: 3 (Low)

Mold* 1,701 (Low)
