PhD Student's Summer Project Results in New Ocean Acidification Sensor

This innovation on a simple sensor will not only help researchers, but because of the proposed cost savings, it could create a much more accessible tool for more than just well-funded scientists. Josianne’s efforts could create more access for remote communities and educators as well. Josianne is currently in the process of licensing her work to an Â黨ÊÓÆµn company to bring it to not just Â黨ÊÓÆµ, but communities all over the world.

Business Students from UAF Join Â黨ÊÓÆµ Angel Investor Conference

Over the course of the last 12 weeks Â黨ÊÓÆµ Center ICE and the UAF College of Business and Security Management (CBSM) Student Investment Fund (SIF) sent three students to the 2023 Â黨ÊÓÆµ Angel Conference (AAC). The Â黨ÊÓÆµ Angel Conference is a 12-week process of identifying, filtering, selecting, and managing a group angel investment. An angel investor is a private investor focused on financing small business ventures in exchange for equity. This year’s Â黨ÊÓÆµ Angel Conference took 21 of Â黨ÊÓÆµâ€™s best start-ups and 17 angel investors through the nuanced process of angel investing.

“We had a terrific time at the Open House: loads of interest (who can resist tasting three different birch syrups?), great networking opportunities with different West Ridge scientists, and just such a great feeling and event," said Jan Dawe, Director of OneTree Â黨ÊÓÆµ (OTA). Eighty-nine booth visitors ranked their preferences amongst the three birch syrups, providing helpful citizen science input for OTA's Innovations in Birch Sap Processing project.
